Scanning and taking photo images will create very different results. Your phone cannot make scans of images but with the PhotoScan by Google app you may generate images that look as if they are scans. It doesn't simply manipulate the shots and turn them into scan images it applies its sophisticated software before the shot during and after the shot. The result is a photo image that looks just like a scan.
The problem with most scanner apps is that you lose a lot of image quality. Cameras are not built to take great images of flat images which is why scanners were invented. They need not have been invented if PhotoScan by Google had existed in the olden days. The app also allows you to cut and crop your image as you are taking it which means it will not affect the quality of your image after the scan (photo shot) has been taken. This app's original approach to shot-to-scan conversion is the reason it works so well and the reason it beats competitor apps out of sight. PhotoScan by Google is not easy to use but if you follow the instructions exactly you will create fantastic scan shots.
The fact you are able to take photo images that look like scans without a glare is very impressive. It takes you through the process of scanning in a way that allows the app to pull all the information it needs to create a glare free image. It is not removing glare afterwards nor is it artificially brightening up the image to compensate for a low-light shot it is actually eliminating glare without the loss of image quality and that makes this app a winner. PhotoScan by Google is a very advanced app which means you need an advanced mobile device but if your device is able to download and install the app then you really should.
